The New Market Historical Society, Inc. was incorporated in 2007 as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Briefly stated, the objectives of the NMHS are:

  • To encourage the discovery and preservation of historical homes, buildings and other significant sites along with pictures and documents related to the New Market area.
  • To promote research and the recording of significant local history.
  • To meet regularly for the sharing of research and historical interests.
  • To publish historical findings and preserve artifacts of local interest.
  • To create interesting educational exhibits.
  • To involve as many people from the area to aid in carrying out the above objectives

As a member you will receive:

  • Invitations to our field trip, annual banquet and special receptions.
  • Discounts to any NMHS fee sponsored events such as annual dinner, bus trips, etc.
  • Workshop, exhibit, and program information throughout the year.

Annual dues are available as Individual $25, Family $35, and Life Membership (Individual or family) $350

  • OFFICER Terms and Election

    Elections are held during the November Meeting.

    President-Elect is a 2 year term. The first year the President-Elect serves in a vice president capacity. The second year is served as President.
    SecretarySecretary serves a 2 year term.
    TreasurerTreasurer serves a 3 year term.
    Program DirectorProgram Director serves a 1 year term.
    Director at LargeThere are 2 Director at Large seats on the board. They are 2 year terms but staggered so that only one is elected each year.

    All officers may succeed themseves.
